OVERVIEW:
A major system failure in the hotel’s domestic hot water system would have major financial impact on the hotel’s revenue, and the failure required a solution that would prevent future recurrence.

The hotel had a storage style design with very large tanks which leads to major waste storing water at elevated temperatures. There are two (2) different pressure zones in the building at 150# on the first four floors, and 300# above with a total of 10,000 MBH load continuous every morning between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

SOLUTION

Stark’s boiler team experts recommended changing to instantaneous hot water system and got production started on skids in a matter of weeks.
The solution brought in only two (2) boilers initially and included:

  • Three (3) Futera XLF 5000s
  • Armstrong Brain mixing valves
  • Schneider Electric controls with touch screen interface

RESULTS:

Added in 1,000 gallon tank that kept water hot, instead of two 10,000 gallon tanks. All new equipment fit on the pad of the failed boiler that was demolished.
