Orange County Public Schools Enhances Performance Across Multiple Campuses with Integrated Controls and Mechanical Upgrades

Customer Profile: Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) is one of the largest school districts in Florida, supporting a diverse portfolio of campuses with varying infrastructure needs. As the district continues to grow, maintaining consistent performance across both new and existing facilities remains a critical priority.

Customer Challenge: OCPS needed to manage multiple projects simultaneously across new construction and existing facilities. The district aimed to deliver new schools on time while upgrading aging systems without disrupting daily operations.

Coordinating improvements across multiple campuses, often within tight summer shutdown windows, added significant complexity. This required a partner capable of delivering technical expertise and reliable execution at scale.

Stark Tech Solution: Stark Tech partnered with the district to deliver a coordinated, scalable approach across multiple campuses.

The scope included:

  • Controls integration for three new school facilities
  • Full mechanical and controls retrofits at select campuses
  • Controls upgrades to improve visibility, efficiency, and reliability
  • Project execution aligned with school schedules, including summer shutdown windows

Project Result
: Projects were successfully delivered across 13 school facilities, spanning new construction, full system retrofits, and phased upgrades, each aligned with district timelines and operational requirements.

  • 3 new school facilities (Site 47, Site 129, OTC West): delivered on schedule over approximately one year with fully integrated systems
  • 3 full mechanical and controls retrofits (East Lake, Wyndham, Andover): executed during 8-week summer shutdown windows to minimize disruption (Andover ongoing)
  • 4 controls renovations with mechanical upgrades (Baldwin Park, McCoy, Eagle’s Nest): completed alongside broader system improvements
  • 3 phased controls renovations (Washington Shores, Bonneville, Lakeview): delivered on schedule while maintaining continuous operations

As a result, Orange County Public Schools benefits from:

  • Consistent, reliable system performance across new and existing campuses
  • Improved visibility and control of building systems
  • Minimal operational disruption through phased and summer execution
  • A scalable model for modernization across a large district portfolio
