Stark Tech Receives $1.9 Million DOE Credit to Advance Renewable Energy Innovation

Stark Tech is excited to announce its selection for funding under the Department of Energy’s Qualifying Advanced Energy Project Credit (48C) program.

Stark Tech will use the $1.9 million allocation for its Renewable Fuels Technology Center to expand capacity requirements and further drive the development of state-of-the-art equipment for processing renewable natural gas (RNG).

Under the project, Stark Tech will re-equip and expand the 123,000-square-foot industrial manufacturing facility to increase flexibility and capacity with additional automated pipe-cutting and beveling equipment, welding equipment for metal bases and piping, and additional cranes, tools, and other equipment required for steel fabrication.  The long-term plan for the facility includes adding functional testing equipment, computer-aided design hardware and software to speed up design engineering and expanding remote monitoring software. These enhancements will provide added value services to support customers’ operational, service, and maintenance needs.

Stark Tech will implement these advancements at its 123,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Buffalo, NY, emphasizing Stark Tech’s commitment to advancing decarbonization efforts and energy solutions.

The project is designed to expand capacity and increase throughput for the manufacturing of clean energy systems. With added demand, Stark Tech is expected to expand its workforce by 73%. At full capacity, the Renewable Fuels Technology Center is expected to produce 10-15 biogas skids and 8-10 landfill gas systems per year, which equates to roughly 300 individual skids. Each skid requires a high level of customized design to accommodate plant sizes, gas composition, and environmental conditions.
