Master Systems Integration for Large-Scale Healthcare Facilities

Customer Profile: Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is an integrated healthcare system serving Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties in New York. The Wynn Hospital campus was designed from the inside out with patient accessibility and clinician workflow in mind. The hospital spans 702,000 square feet, includes 373 beds, and serves thousands of patients annually, including over 40,000 Emergency Department patients, 15,000 inpatients, and 5,000 surgeries.


Stark Tech Involvement:
Stark Tech served as the prime technology contractor, executing integration efforts at the brand-new Wynn Hospital campus. Leveraging extensive experience in Master Systems Integration, our team proposed and deployed an Integrated Technology Platform that consolidated disparate systems into a single IP network. This platform reduced capital expenditures (CapEx), minimized operational costs (OpEx), and enhanced patient care and safety across the facility.

Our responsibilities included:

  • System Integration & Deployment: Building Management System (BMS), Audio-Visual (A-V), Security, Fire Alarm, Asset Tracking, low-voltage systems, and over 20 additional technology systems, fully integrated into one network.
  • Security & Access Control: Access control, visitor management, child protection systems, intrusion detection, biometrics, and video surveillance.
  • Patient & Staff Safety Systems: Nurse call, Code Blue, patient telemetry, fire safety systems, and emergency power/testing.
  • Operations & Compliance: Elevator management, building management, energy & power management, CMMS, medical gas, vacuum, and refrigerator monitoring.
  • Communication & Workflow: Radio communication system, public address system, and RFID asset tracking for efficient clinical operations.

Project Result: The Integrated Technology Platform delivered tangible results, including:

  • Reduced CapEx by minimizing equipment, software, and installation costs. Prevent duplication of systems and installation cost
  • Lowered OpEx through better staff training, continuous commissioning, and enhanced maintenance and support
  • Improved patient care, safety, and satisfaction scores
  • Optimized workflows for clinicians and staff, capture data for analytics, and supporting seamless hospital operations
